The pack leader of IDW‘s resurrection of the G.I. Joe franchise has easily been the Cobra series. It continues to take a deeper, darker look into the Joe world and this issue does not disappoint.

Story: Chuckles, a member of Joe, is undercover and working his way up through the Cobra ranks. G.I. Joe: Cobra #3 focuses on the tough moral decisions that Chuckles has to make while spying on Cobra. He also becomes increasingly distant from Joe, mainly due to problems with his communication device. Costa and Gage, the two writers on this issue, do a great job with dialogue and plot development giving the reader a satisfying issue.

Art: The art is another strong point of this issue and it does a great job of setting the mood of the story. The melding of art and story can make or break an issue, and in this case, both fit together seamlessly.

Overall: Now is as good a time as any to jump into G.I. Joe: Cobra even if you aren’t a fan of the core Joe series, or even Origins. Cobra continues to get better with each issue and is exactly what I want out of a Joe title.
