James Robinson does a good job of starting Superman #688 off with some tense moments. Mon-El’s powers continue to give out on him and he finds himself powerless, hurtling towards Earth. At this point, you already know you will finish this issue and enjoy it.

Superman #684 is the 12th issue in the New Krypton arc, and also one of the “Faces of Evil” tie-ins. The issue begins with a focus on Parasite (also the cover model) and his thirst for power. After a brief tussle with Superman and Mon-El, yes I said Mon-El, he is imprisoned before breaking free to begin roaming the streets of Metropolis in a quest for his next fix. Should he get this next fix, it would preferably come from Mon-El.
